Voting on August 4th: Frequently Asked Questions

Option 1: Do you expect to be confined due to illness or disability, or are caring for someone who is?

    • You may vote absentee under EXCUSE #2: (2) Incapacity or confinement due to illness of physical disability (permanent) 
    • Your ballot DOES NOT NEED TO BE NOTARIZED
    • You may Request your ballot any of the four ways
      • By email, fax, in-person, or by mail. 
      • Or, you can vote absentee in person at your local election office up until the day just before the election.
        • Note: you may not vote in person absentee ON THE DAY OF THE ELECTION

Ballots can be returned in-person or by mail, by the voter or a close relative of the voter. 

Ballot must be received by close of polls on August 4th.

Option 2: Do you have or are you in a category at risk for contracting or spreading COVID-19?

  1. 65 years or older
  2. In a long term care facility
  3. Chronic lung disease or moderate/severe asthma
  4. Serious heart condition
  5. Immunocompromised
  6. Diabetes
  7. Liver disease
  8. Chronic kidney disease/dialysis
    • You may vote absentee under EXCUSE #7: (7) For an election that occurs during the year 2020, the voter has contracted or is in an at-risk category for contracting or transmitting severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus. (For 2020 only) 
    • Your ballot DOES NOT NEED TO BE NOTARIZED
    • You may Request your ballot any of the four ways
      • By email, fax, in-person, or by mail. 
      • Or, you can vote absentee in person at your local election office up until the day just before the election.
        • Note: you may not vote in person absentee ON THE DAY OF THE ELECTION
    • Deadline to request a ballot: July 22nd, 2020
    • How can you submit your ballot?
      • Ballots can be returned in-person or by mail, by the voter or a close relative of the voter. 
    • When must your ballot be received by? 
      • Ballot must be received by close of polls on August 4th.

Option 3: Any voter can vote by mail for 2020 elections. NO EXCUSE REQUIRED.

  • Your ballot DOES NEED TO BE NOTARIZED
  • You may Request your ballot one of two ways
    • In-person
    • By mail
  • Deadline to request a ballot: July 22nd, 2020
  • How can you submit your ballot?
    • Must be returned to the election authority by MAIL only. 
  • When must your ballot be received by? 
    • Ballot must be received by close of polls on August 4th.
